Pecos Bills Rally Past Santa Fe Fuego 7-6

July 17 2024 The Pecos Bills rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Santa Fe Fuego 7-6 in 11 innings. Pecos collected 13 hits and overcame a 6-1 gap after eight innings, scoring five times in the ninth to tie the game before pushing across the winning run in the 11th. Santa Fe finished with 12 hits and committed four errors, while Pecos made three errors.

Sammy Polanco led the Bills offensively, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and a triple. Taufahema T went 1-for-4 with two walks, two runs and an RBI, while Luke Smith and D. Maduro each had two hits. Josh Kellogg added an RBI as a pinch hitter, and Gilberto Rosario contributed an RBI single.

Santa Fe received three hits and two RBI from Dominic Scotti, while Jeremy DiBartolomeo went 2-for-5 with two RBI, a double and a triple. The Fuego built their lead with one run in the second, one in the third, two in the fifth and two in the sixth before Pecos late comeback.

George Mills earned the win after allowing one hit and no runs over 2.2 innings while striking out four. Phillip Jones worked 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts for Pecos. Santa Fe starter Emmanuel Benavidez pitched 8.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and five runs, two earned, with five walks and four strikeouts. Steven Lebron took the loss after surrendering two runs in 1.2 innings.
