12/18/2013-The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs has officially entered the Grand Canyon State of Arizona. The Bisbee Blue and the Douglas Diablos are the 9th and 10th teams. Both teams will begin play in 2014 in the Southern Division. The Southern Division will be comprised of the Alpine Cowboys, White Sands Pupfish, Roswell Invaders , Bisbee Blue and Douglas Diablos.
"We are excited to play in Bisbee and Douglas in historic ballparks. Both ballparks and cities will be great additions to the Pecos League." says Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn.
"We are excited to have the Pecos League in Bisbee and Douglas." says baseball historian Mike Anderson.
"Bisbee will be a great place for the Pecos League." says Pecos League Manager Bill Moore.
The Bisbee-Douglas Area is a historic copper mining area with generations of baseball tradition.
Both teams have historic ballparks that were designed for Minor League Baseball in the 1950s.
Douglas will play in Copper King Stadium in Douglas Arizona. Bisbee will play in historic Warren Ballpark in Bisbee Arizona.
Bisbee will be known as the Bisbee Blue which symbolizes the turquoise rocks that come from the Bisbee Copper Mines. Bisbee will wear Turquoise Jerseys with Black as their second color. Douglas will be known as the Diablos and will wear Black Jerseys with Red as their second color.
The two teams will open the season against each other on May 14, 2014. Both teams will begin Spring Training on May 5. The teams are both owned and operated by the Pecos League and will share visiting housing similar to Raton and Trinidad.
The Pecos League now has teams in four states and three time zones. The League now has five teams in both the Northern and Southern Divisions. Each Division will have one team playing out of division every week.
